AC Milan manager Vincenzo Montella has confirmed the club are keen to secure Gianluigi Donnarumma’s long-term future as big clubs continue to circle for his signature.
Donnarumma, 17, has established himself as the best young goalkeeper in Europe after making becoming the youngest goalkeeper to make their full Serie A debut in October 2015.
The Italy international has already been declared as Gianluigi Buffon’s long-term successor and has been linked with almost every club in Europe, but Milan are hopeful of securing his long-term future.
“I think Milan want to tie him down and that he loves Milan,” Montella told Premium Sport, via Football Italia. “I’m happy to have him in the team.”
Donnarumma turned in a man of the match performance against Lazio on Monday night to ensure Milan earned a point from that match, despite the fact he conceded a penalty.
In fact, no goalkeeper has earned more WhoScored Man of the Match awards in Europe’s top five leagues this season than Donnarumma (3).
