Chelsea manager Sarri sets sights on Napoli raid

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri wants to raid former club Napoli in January for right-back Elseid Hysaj, claims The Sun.

A number of Napoli players have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge since Sarri left the club in the summer to manage Chelsea but none more so than Hysaj.

The Serie A side blocked Sarri from signing the 24-year-old in the summer but the Chelsea manager wants to pull off a reported £20m move in January.

Hysaj’s agent has fuelled speculation of a move to Chelsea in the past and the Premier League outfit are ready to make their move for the right-back next month.

Chelsea must first sell Davide Zappacosta before they can facilitate a move for Hysaj, who would provide competition at right-back with Cesar Azpilicueta.

Zappacosta only joined Chelsea last summer but has barely made any impression at the club and does not feature in Sarri’s plans.

The Italy international has interest from Roma and Lazio but prising Hysaj away from Napoli will prove a difficult assignment midway through the season.

Hysaj has started 13 of Napoli’s opening 15 league matches this season and has been a first-team regular since joining the club from Empoli in 2015.
