Adam Lallana hails Sturridge’s pre-season impact

Adam Lallana has hailed Daniel Sturridge’s impact in pre-season and believes his England international team-mate's return to full fitness will be like two new signings for Liverpool this season.

Sturridge was widely expected to leave the Merseyside outfit this summer after struggling to make a significant impact under Jurgen Klopp, but the Liverpool head coach has spoken highly about the striker in pre-season.

Klopp believes Sturridge is currently in the best shape he has ever been in since he was made manager in October 2015 and Lallana has echoed the thoughts of the German during a pre-season camp in Munich.

“Listen, Studge has been absolutely brilliant in pre-season so far,” The Daily Telegraph quote Lallana as saying. “You couldn’t put a price on him. He is a world class player. He has come back from the summer looking absolutely brilliant, so fit. He is going to be a massive player for us this season. I can feel it.

“He is looking really sharp and to have him firing on all cylinders would be like having two new signings if we can keep on the pitch and get him scoring goals.”

Sturridge has struggled to stay fit in the last few years and was limited to just seven starts in the Premier League last season, managing just three goals in that time.

Since August 2015, Liverpool have won 51.7% of their Premier League games that Sturridge has not started compared to 44.4% when the 27-year-old has been selected in the starting lineup.
