Manchester City are in advanced talks with Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to Sky Sports.
Pep Guardiola has identified the Dortmund midfielder as one of the key players to his new-look City squad next season but the two clubs are still a way a part of their valuation for the 25-year-old.
Gundogan has enjoyed a sublime season at the heart of Dortmund’s midfield this season and has regularly been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga giants in recent years.
City are currently the front runners to sign the Germany international but will need stump up a further £8.1m if they are to match Dortmund’s current £36.4m valuation of the midfielder, even though his contract is due to expire in 2017.
No player has won possession more times in the midfield third in the Bundesliga this season than Gundogan (104).
