Liverpool want Roberto Firmino to see out the remainder of his career at Anfield and want to hand him a new long-term deal, reports Sky Sports.
Firmino’s current deal is not due to expire until 2020 but he has established himself as an important player for Jurgen Klopp’s side since joining from Hoffenheim nearly three years ago.
In the wake of Philippe Coutinho’s departure to Barcelona, Liverpool want to ensure their best players remain at the club for years to come starting with Firmino.
The 26-year-old plays an unusual role up front for Liverpool in that his work off the ball is valued as equally as the goals he scores.
Despite the fact Firmino’s biggest goal haul in a single Premier League campaign is 11, the Brazil international is one of the most important players for the way Klopp wants Liverpool to play.
However, Firmino has really found his feet in the Champions League this season. In fact, only Cristiano Ronaldo (9) has scored more times than the Liverpool No.9 (6).
