Chelsea hoping to beat Manchester United to teenage Dortmund star

Chelsea are trying to beat Manchester United to the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, reports The Sun.

The England international put in another stellar performance at the weekend as he nabbed a goal and an assist for Dortmund as they secured a 5-0 win over Bundesliga newboys Union Berlin.

Teenager Sancho remains the only player in Europe's top five leagues to register double figures for both goals (12) and assists (12) this season as his stock continues to soar.

Borussia Dortmund may also welcome the chance to cash in on Sancho at the end of the campaign, which has a number of potential suitors, including Chelsea and United, on high alert.

Both Premier League sides were heavily linked with a move for the 19-year-old last month, but a return to England failed to materialise.

United are believed to working hard on a deal to sign Sancho in the summer as head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to rejuvenate his squad.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are set to lose Willian to Barcelona at the end of the season, while Pedro is also expected to leave Stamford Bridge, so the Blues will be looking to land at least one winger in the summer.
