Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has revealed no talks have taken place about extending his stay at Old Trafford but he would like to renew terms with the club.
Herrera has entered the final 18 months of his existing deal at the club but has established himself as a key player for Jose Mourinho this season and is a real crowd favourite.
The 27-year-old’s performances this season even earned him international recognition with the Spanish senior side for the first time in his career having previously struggled to find a regular starting role in the team under Louis van Gaal.
However, the former Athletic Club midfielder has revealed there have been no talks about extending his stay although he is open to a new deal that would keep him at United for the best years of his career.
“I have nothing to talk about. Of course, if they want to talk with me, I will be very happy to do that. But so far, nothing,” Manchester Evening News quote Herrera as saying. “But so far, nothing.”
Given United are currently in a very important part of the season where they are currently juggling four competitions, contract talks aren’t likely to start until the end of the season.
Only Jordan Henderson (1733) and teammate Paul Pogba (1441) have completed more passes than Herrera (1374) in the Premier League this season.
