Barcelona willing to pay £120m for Coutinho

Barcelona are willing to make Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho the second most expensive player of all-time this summer, reports The Times.

Ernesto Valverde’s side are looking to make at least two major splurges in the summer transfer window following Neymar’s £193m world record move to Paris Saint-Germain last week.

Barcelona have earmarked Borussia Dortmund youngster Ousmane Dembele and Liverpool star Coutinho as their top transfer targets and hope to get both deals over the line before the end of the month.

Jurgen Klopp has no interest in selling Coutinho this summer and Liverpool have already rejected an £80m offer from their Spanish counterparts.

However, Barcelona are ready to return with a monster bid and are even willing to spend as much as £120m to prize Coutinho away from Anfield.

The 25-year-old wants to join Barcelona this summer but will not force through a move and hopes for an amicable solution to his future.

Coutinho scored more direct free kicks than any other player in the Premier League last season (3).
