Chelsea re-enter Pedro race

Chelsea have re-entered the race to sign Barcelona’s Pedro and are confident of hi-jacking Manchester United’s attempts to sign the Spain international, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The Premier League champions have endured their worst start to a league campaign since 1998 and are now expected to flex their financial muscle in the remaining two weeks of the transfer window.

Pedro, 28, has been heavily linked with a move to United this summer, but Chelsea are confident of getting a deal done despite the fact Pedro has already agreed personal terms with Louis van Gaal’s side.

Chelsea could have signed the Barcelona winger in January, but instead opted to buy Juan Cuadrado, who has failed to make any impact since joining from Fiorentina.

Pedro has largely played second fiddle to a glittering array of forward talent that has swept through the doors at the Nou Camp since his emergence in 2008. Since then, only Lionel Messi (257) has scored more goals than Pedro (58) for Barcelona in La Liga.
