Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the arrival of Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye on a four-year deal running until the summer of 2023.
The Ligue 1 champions have been pursuing Gueye since January and have finally got a deal over the line for a reported €30m (£28m).
Everton blocked Gueye’s departure to PSG at the start of the year but have sanctioned his sale following the arrival of Fabian Delph from Manchester City.
The Toffees paid a measly £8.5m to sign Delph from City earlier this summer and Marco Silva will hope to use the money raised from Gueye’s departure to sign another midfielder.
“I’m immensely proud to sign for Paris Saint-Germain,” Gueye told the club’s official website. “After focussing on the AFCOn with Senegal, I wanted to give a new boost to my club career by joining Paris Saint-Germain, one of the most structured and ambitious sports projects in Europe.
“I’d like to thank the directors, the coach and his staff for the confidence they have shown in me. I will do everything to justify the faith they have shown in me and to integrate into this talented squad.
“And of course I can’t wait to take in the amazing atmosphere of the Parc des Princes, which impressed me during my first seasons in France!”
PSG manager Thomas Tuchel has made bolstering his midfield options a priority this summer and Gueye is the third recruit in that position.
The Ligue 1 champions signed Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera on a free transfer and Sevilla ace Pablo Sarabia earlier this month.
Gueye, 29, has made more tackles and interceptions combined (613) than any other player in the Premier League since August 2016.
