Tottenham plot £5.5m bid for Kane back-up

Tottenham are preparing a £5.5m bid for Frankfurt striker Bas Dost as they continue to search for back-up for Harry Kane, claims The Daily Mail.

Jose Mourinho has made it clear Tottenham need a new striker to ease the burden on Kane and so they have a Plan B after their opening weekend defeat to Everton.

Tottenham have already missed out on Ollie Watkins to Aston Villa, while Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik is set to join Roma.

It has now emerged the north London outfit have earmarked Dost as a top transfer target heading into the final few weeks of the summer transfer window.

The former Netherlands international impressively scored 76 goals in 83 league games for Sporting and managed eight goals in 24 league appearances in his maiden Frankfurt season.

Dost struggled for regular playing time last season, however, only starting 16 of his 24 appearances and averaged a goal every 184.6 minutes of playing time.
