Juventus have announced veteran duo Gianluigi Buffon and Andrea Barzagli has signed new contract extensions keeping them at the club until June 2018.
Buffon, 38, only had one year remaining on his previous deal but is now tied up with Juventus until his 40th birthday, which will stretch his association with the Old Lady to 17 years.
The Italy international has enjoyed another sublime campaign for Juventus as he picked up his seventh league title with the Serie A giants.
Barzagli, meanwhile, had entered the final few months of his deal but the 35-year-old has been rewarded for his performances this season, a decision, which may have been deemed compulsory given Giorgio Chiellini’s ongoing injury problems.
“I’m immensely proud in the faith Juventus have placed in me once more,” Buffon declared at a press conference held by Juventus. “I hope that my fantastic story with this club will go on and bring even further success.
“It’s a great feeling to share this moment with my friend and colleague, Andrea Barzagli.”
Since August 2009, only Manuel Neuer (116), Stephane Ruffier (106) has kept more clean sheets in Europe’s top five leagues than Buffon (105).
