Wolves interested in Manchester United defender

Newly-promoted Premier League side Wolves are interested in signing Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo, reports The Independent.

Wolves want to bolster their defensive options before the start of the upcoming campaign and have also been linked with an audacious move for Barcelona’s Yerry Mina.

Nuno’s side have now turned their attention to Rojo after being alerted to his potential availability this summer.

The Argentina international only signed three-year deal with the Red Devils in March but is the most likely candidate of United's current defenders to be sold by Jose Mourinho this summer.

The United boss wants to sign a new centre-back for the third summer in a row and is ready to sacrifice Rojo in order to sign Leicester’s Harry Maguire.

Rojo is currently injured and will not be ready for the start of the season, which kicks off in two weeks, but Wolves are still keen on the 28-year-old.

The Argentine has spent the last four years at United after moving to Old Trafford after the 2014 World Cup under then-manager Louis van Gaal.

Rojo has never completely convinced during that period and is better known for his haphazard approach to defending.

Interestingly, United have a marginally better win ratio in the Premier League with Rojo in the starting XI (57.4%) since his arrival compared to when he has not featured from the off (51.6%).
