West Ham have earmarked Huddersfield manager David Wagner as a potential replacement for current manager Slaven Bilic, reports The Daily Telegraph.
The Hammers were planning to hand Bilic a new contract in the summer but have shelved those talks and will review his position at the club at the end of the season.
Bilic has endured a difficult season and the club are aware that some of the problems he has faced have largely been out of his control but are also weighing up potential replacements in case they decide to change direction.
Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has re-emerged as a candidate to replace Bilic, while West Ham are also now interested in Wagner, who has impressed since becoming Huddersfield manager in November 2015.
Wagner has transformed the Terriers into promotion hopefuls and could even be in the Premier League next season with Huddersfield should they consolidate their place in the play-offs.
Huddersfield are currently third and 10 points clear of Fulham who occupy the first position outside of the play-offs. Since becoming Huddersfield manager Wagner has won 45.9% of his matches.
