Everton will make a surprise move for Bournemouth defender Steve Cook if they fail to land Burnley star Michael Keane, reports The Sun.
Ronald Koeman’s side are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window and have already earmarked Swansea ace Gylfi Sigurdsson as a potential signing, while Keane tops their wish list for new defenders.
However, Everton won’t be the only side in for Keane this summer and the former Manchester United defender will not come cheap with Sean Dyche’s side expected to demand in excess of £25m for his services.
After the disappointments of last summer where Everton missed out on a number of top transfer targets, Koeman will understandably be keen to have targets in place should they miss out on their first choices and that has led the Toffees to Cook.
The Bournemouth defender has caught the eye of the likes of West Brom and West Ham this season and has reportedly even been on Gareth Southgate’s England radar at times.
No player has completed more headed clearances in the Premier League this season than Cook (199).
