Juventus table five-year deal for Premier League midfielder

Juventus are the frontrunners in securing Emre Can’s long-term future after offering the Liverpool midfielder a five-year contract, claims The Guardian.

Can’s current Liverpool deal is due to expire at the end of the current campaign and he is free to discuss pre-contract terms with foreign sides.

Liverpool have offered the Germany international a £85,000-a-week deal to keep him at Anfield but will not meet Can’s wish of a release clause.

That has proved the major sticking point in negotiations and Juventus are confident of signing Can on a Bosman transfer in the summer after positive talks with the player’s representatives.

Juventus have identified Can as the ideal long-term replacement for compatriot Sami Khedira and a move to Italy now seems a foregone conclusion for the 23-year-old.

Since the start of last season, only three Premier League players have committed more fouls than Can (89).
