Everton to discuss Martinez’s future

The Everton board will meet to discuss Roberto Martinez’s future at the club this week, reports The Guardian.

Martinez, 42, is the odds on favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked following a disastrous campaign that has recently culminated in being thrashed 4-0 in the last Merseyside derby of the season and eliminated in the FA Cup semi-final at the weekend.

The former Wigan manager has been heavily criticised for his oversight of Everton’s disappointing campaign that has them only two points off Crystal Palace in 16th with four games remaining.

Martinez’s inability to organise their porous defence has also been particularly disappointing for the Everton faithful, who are quickly running out of patience with their young Spanish manager.

Everton have only won four home matches this season – only Aston Villa (2) have won fewer. Added to that, only two teams have shipped more goals on home soil than the Toffees (29), which has only added to their fans’ frustrations
