Manchester United star set for u-turn on future with new deal in pipeline

Anthony Martial is likely to pen a new contract at Manchester United in the coming weeks having only recently declared that he may look to leave Old Trafford, according to The Sun.

The Frenchman has struggled for consistency under Jose Mourinho at the club and been in and out of the side but the club remain keen to tie him down to a new deal, with the manager’s future still very much in doubt.

Martial started only his third league game for the club in the comeback win over Newcastle ahead of the international break and his second half display in particular was proof of the 22-year-old’s immense talent.

He will be hoping for the chance to showcase it more in the coming weeks and months and is prepared to fight for his place, extending his contract beyond it’s current expiration in 2020.

The report suggests the forward is set to be offered £130,000 a week to stay at the club having arrived in 2015 as the world’s most expensive teenage signing at the time.

Since his arrival from Monaco the France international - who missed out on a place in the World Cup squad due to a lack of playing time - has scored a modest 25 league goals, 11 of which came in his debut season in England under Louis van Gaal.
