Manchester United expect to wrap up a deal for Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes by the end of the week, claims The Sun.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are the clear frontrunners for Fernandes' signature, as the United boss desperately looks to bolster his midfield options this month.
United were heavily linked with a move for Fernandes in the summer but pulled the plug on their interest as they felt Sporting were using them to drive his price up.
However, the Red Devils have rekindled their interest and have been in discussions with Sporting officials in England over his signature for the last week.

Talks are progressing steadily and United are confident of getting a deal worth £60m and £100,000-a-week over the line by the end of the week.
United are trying to include Marcos Rojo as a makeweight but Sporting are reluctant to re-sign the Argentina international due to his lofty wages.
Solskjaer even went and watched Fernandes personally earlier this month and the Portugal international is keen to move to Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old has been in sensational form for Sporting since the beginning of last season, even playing a direct hand in 48 league goals in as many appearances.
