Burnley tell Everton to forget Michael Keane deal

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has told Everton to forget about their pursuit of Michael Keane.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed he is interested in bringing Keane to Goodison Park as he seeks a long-term replacement for Phil Jagielka, although a summer move appear more likely at this stage.

However, Dyche has moved to rule out Keane’s possible departure from Turf Moor and insists the Clarets are no longer a club that look to sell their best players as they seek to establish themselves as a Premier League club.

“We’re a club who are looking to add players who we think can take it forward, not get rid of them,” The Liverpool Echo quote Dyche as saying.

“It’s the balance between people looking at your players and wondering where they will go, and the respect that shows people are taking Burnley seriously.

“That’s the club, the team, the individuals – they’re taking us seriously and noticing that we’ve got some really good players.”

Keane has really impressed for Burnley this season and his performances have already earned him international recognition with Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

The former Manchester United academy graduate has also been linked with a move to Chelsea this season and is likely to be a player in demand if he finishes the remainder of the season as strongly as he has started it.

Only Steve Cook (141) has made more headed clearances in the Premier League this season than Keane (110).
