Young defender wants City move

John Stones has told Everton that he wants to leave Goodison Park and move to Manchester City, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The young centre-back has held talks with new manager Ronald Koeman and has informed the Dutchman of his intention to leave the Toffees for Pep Guardiola’s side.

City have been strongly linked with a move for Stones in recent months, with Guardiola hoping to bring in at least one centre-back this summer.

A ball playing defender is essential for the Spaniard, with Stones, despite a disappointing campaign, fitting the bill for Guardiola.

The 22-year-old is keen to undergo his pre-season training with City, though Everton are holding out for bids of around £50m for the promising youngster.

Everton are hoping to bring in as much money as possible for Stones as they launch a big money bid for Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, who is also attracting interest from Chelsea.
