Atletico Madrid midfielder keen on Premier League move
Thomas Partey’s father has revealed his son is keen to test himself in the Premier League.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish side after failing to cement a regular starting berth.
Partey has emerged as a top transfer target by new Inter manager Antonio Conte but the midfielder’s father, Hon Adjiingo, has suggested a move to the Premier League could be on the cards.
“I personally told him to move on, if he is not wanted at where he is right now,” he told Ghana radio station Enigye FM.
“Because he might be wanted at somewhere else and so he will like to move to England if he gets the chance.”
Atletico are bracing themselves for a testing summer, with Antoine Greizmann already pushing for a move away from the club.
Diego Simeone’s side have already lost Diego Godin and are expected to sell Rodrigo to Manchester City.
Partey, who has a £43.5m release clause, has four years left to run on his current Atletico deal after extending his contract in March 2018.
The 25-year-old only started 22 league matches last season and made a further 10 appearances from the bench.
Partey played a direct hand in seven league goals (three goals, four assists) despite being a defensive midfielder by trade.
Partey won the WhoScored Man of the Match award more times than any other Atletico player in La Liga last term (five).
