Shaw suffers suspected broken leg

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has been taken to a hospital after suffering a suspected broken leg in the first-half of their Champions League clash at PSV Eindhoven.

Shaw, 20, was left in a crumbled heap in the PSV penalty area after a surging goalwards run was brought to a crushing halt by a hector Hector Moreno challenge with the score at 0-0.

The former Southampton academy graduate will now almost certainly be ruled out until 2016 and any dreams to have represented England at next summer’s European Championships would appear to have ended.

United made Shaw the most expensive teenager in the world when they signed him for £30m last summer and after enduring a tough debut campaign at Old Trafford he finally looked to have found his feet after an impressive start to the current season.

Shaw had been enjoying his finest run in United colours having played in every minute of their five Premier League games this season, as well as starting in all three of their European fixtures including Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat away to PSV.
