Lazio have reached personal terms with Alejandro Gomez but still need to agree a fee with Atalanta, reports La Repubblica, via Football Italia.
Gomez was in sublime form for Atalanta last season and has previously reiterated he would only leave the club for one of the biggest sides in Serie A.
The 29-year-old scored on his debut for the Argentina national side in their 6-0 friendly win over Singapore on Tuesday and now Lazio and AC Milan are battling for his signature.
Lazio are in pole position for his signature after agreeing terms with the versatile forward but they still have to agree a fee with Atalanta, which means Milan are not out of the race just yet.
Gomez was one of eight players in Europe’s top five leagues that registered double figures for goals (16) and assists (10) last season, while only three players won more whoScored Man of the Match awards (Gomez - 10).
