Palace confirm Mandanda capture

Crystal Palace have announced they have signed Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of €2m (£1.5m).

Mandanda, 31, who is currently on duty with France at Euro 2016, announced he would leave Marseille at the end of last season following an eight year association with the Ligue 1 giants.

The French goalkeeper had been heavily linked with a move to Everton but Palace have won the race to sign the experienced shot stopper on a three-year deal.

“I’m delighted that we have been able to bring Steve into the club. He brings a wealth of experience at both club and international level to us, and boasts a proven track record when it comes to winning trophies,” chairman Steve Parish told Palace’s official website.

“I’m sure the Palace fans will enjoy watching him in action for us over the next few years.”

Mandanda has successfully claimed at least 45 more crosses than any other goalkeeper in Ligue 1 in the last four campaigns (231).
