Pep Guardiola has confirmed Sergio Aguero is on the verge of signing a new deal with Manchester City.
Aguero, 28, has reportedly been in contract talks with City over an extension since the start of the year as City look to tie him down for his best years.
The Argentina international still has three years remaining on his existing deal but Guardiola has confirmed a resolution is near for City’s star striker.
“I don’t know if I am the right person to talk about that but I think he is going to extend the contract,” Sky Sports quote Guardiola as saying.
“It is not official. I don’t know if it is definitely going to happen but, if he stays, I will be so, so happy.”
In the last five Premier League seasons no player has scored more goals than Aguero (84).
