Swansea will launch a stunning £20m bid to re-sign Stoke midfielder Joe Allen, reports The Daily Mirror.
Allen only joined Stoke 12 months ago but is attracting strong interest from his former club despite the fact Mark Hughes’ side have already rebuffed interest from their rivals this month.
The Potters do not want to lose any more key players this summer having already sold Marko Arnautovic to West Ham, but Swansea are prepared to press ahead with their interest in Allen.
The Wales international came through the Swansea academy before earning a high profile move to Liverpool in 2012, although he failed to establish himself as a first team regular in that time.
A strong showing at Euro 2016 earned him a move to Stoke and Swansea are keen to use some of the £45m they expect to get from Gylfi Sigurdsson’s departure in order to re-sign Allen.
Since the start of last season, Allen has won possession in the middle third at least 36 more times than any other Stoke player (125).
