Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is keen on reuniting with Bayern Munich youngster Joshua Kimmich, reports the Daily Mail.
Guardiola handed the 21-year-old his debut for the Bundesliga champions last season following his switch from RB Leipzig, with his good form culminating in a place in the Germany squad at Euro 2016.
While a holding midfielder by trade, Guardiola helped convert the youngster into a right-back over the duration of his final campaign at the Allianz Arena, with Kimmich drafted into the Germany starting XI for the 1-0 win over Northern Ireland at the European Championship, where he held onto his place in the side until their semi final exit.
Guardiola reportedly sees Kimmich as the long-term successor to fan favourite Pablo Zabaleta at right-back at the Etihad Stadium, with the Spaniard hoping to conclude a deal quickly before his price tag rises.
Renowned for his passing quality, it was no surprise that his pass success rate (92.2%) was the third best of all Bayern players in the Bundesliga last season, reinforcing his statistically calculated WhoScored strength of ‘passing’
