Real Madrid call off Bale move

Real Madrid have spectacularly called off Gareth Bale’s monster move to China, reports BBC Sport.

Bale has been widely expected to leave Real Madrid this summer with head coach Zinedine Zidane previously claiming the Wales international was very close to leaving.

The attacker has fallen out of favour with the Los Blancos bossm which has seen him linked with a move to another European side, with former club Tottenham a rumoured destination.

However, Spurs were priced out of a move for Bale, who earns a reported £500,000-a-week in the Spanish capital.

Those who could afford his wages were reluctant to take such a financial hit on the 30-year-old due to his chequered injury history.

Bale had been expected to move to Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning before the close of the transfer window in the Far East and he had been offered £1m-a-week on a three-year deal.

Real Madrid, though, have since called off the move as they demanded a transfer fee for the player, while Marco Asensio’s knee injury, which will keep him sidelined for a majority of the 2019/20 season, has also seen Los Blancos block his departure.
