Paris Saint-Germain make shock bid for MLS star

Paris Saint-Germain have made an offer in the region of $10m (£7.61m) for DC United forward Luciano Acosta, claims the Washington Post.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have already failed with a loan offer for Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil and has now turned to Acosta in a bid to find cover for Neymar.

The Brazil international has suffered his second serious foot injury in two years and is now sidelined for 10 weeks, dealing PSG with a huge blow in the Champions League.

PSG have been one of the most active teams in Europe during the January transfer window and are hoping to sign two players on deadline day.

As well as a new central midfielder, Tuchel is now frantically looking to add cover in attack, with Acosta in their sights.

DC United stand to receive a club-record fee for Acosta and the 24-year-old has already flown to Europe in case he gets the green light to complete a shock move on Thursday.

Acosta was one of six players to finish with double figures for goals (10) and assists (15) in MLS last season and the Argentine benefitted hugely from Wayne Rooney’s arrival at the club.

In fact, Acosta registered at least two more assists than any other player in MLS last term (including playoffs).
