Inter had France international lined up as Icardi replacement
Inter would have moved for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette had they sold Mauro Icardi to Napoli, reports Calciomercato, via Football Italia.
Icardi, 23, was heavily linked with a move to Napoli after they sold Gonzalo Higuain to rivals Juventus earlier in the summer.
Inter had no intention of selling their captain but money talks and Frank de Boer’s side put plans in place to bid for Lyon striker Lacazette.
The France international was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer and has started the season in tremendous form. In fact, the 25-year-old has scored at least two more goals than any other player in Europe’s big five leagues this season (6).
