Bayer Leverkusen have €15m bid for AC Milan forward rejected

Bayer Leverkusen have become the second German side in the last few days to have a bid for AC Milan forward Suso turned down, reports Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia.

Suso wants to stay with Milan but his future is up in the air following the club’s summer spending splurge that is on the verge of topping £150m.

The former Liverpool winger excelled for the Serie A giants last season but was reportedly omitted from Milan’s squad for the International Champions Cup this summer.

While it was not specified whether Suso’s omission was down to injury or the fact he will be leaving the club this summer, it has not stopped Wolfsburg, and now Leverkusen, from chancing their luck for the Spaniard.

Leverkusen are the latest side to express an interest in the Milan No.8, but their €15m (£13.2m) bid was rebuffed by the Serie A giants.

Heiko Herrlich’s side need to bolster their offensive options after they sold Hakan Calhanoglu, inadvertently to Milan, and have identified Suso as a target that can complement their current options.

No Milan player scored or assisted more league goals than Suso last season (16 - seven goals, nine assists). However, after a sublime first six months to the season where 11 of those goals came, Suso’s form dipped at the turn of the year.
