Iker Casillas extends Porto stay

 

Iker Casillas has announced he will continue at Porto after activating the option in his current deal to a further 12 months at the club.

 

The former Real Madrid goalkeeper signed a two-year deal with the Portuguese giants in 2015 with an option to another season.

 

Casillas has regularly been linked with a move to Liverpool, while there were suggestions former Porto sporting director Antero Henrique would look to take the Spainard with him to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

 

However, the 36-year-old took to his official Twitter account to announce he his decision to spend another 12 months with Porto.

 

“Very happy to continue one season more with @FCPorto! Looking forward to the challenges to come,” Casillas posted on his official Twitter account.

Casillas kept more clean sheets in Europe’s top six leagues last season than any other goalkeeper (19).
