Yaya Toure’s agent unaware of incoming Manchester City deal

The agent of Yaya Toure has put the midfielder’s Manchester City future into doubt after revealing he knows nothing about reports suggesting Pep Guardiola’s side will reward the 34-year-old with a new 12-month deal.

Toure's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and there were huge doubts whether Guardiola would extend his stay at the club after starting the season out of favour.

The Ivorian midfielder has been immense in recent weeks and reports emerged at the start of the week suggesting his form had changed Guardiola’s mind and City would look to reward Toure with a new 12-month deal.

However, according to Toure’s agent, Dimitri Seluk, there has been no contact from City in the last two months about extending his stay.

“We have not heard anything,” Sky Sports quote Seluk as saying. “I read a lot of stories about a new City contract but I know nothing about this. The last time I spoke to anyone at City was in Monaco in March.

“We have many possibilities. Yaya already has offers from different clubs. They are very interesting offers. “There are clubs who have already qualified for next season’s Champions League, but for Yaya, Manchester City is a very special club. He has given his heart to the club and he would find it difficult to leave City.

“At the moment Yaya is just concentrating on getting City into the Champions League. That is his only focus. At the end of his contract, we will look at the offers he has. He wants to play in the Champions League next season but he would also play for an ambitious club who have big plans – a club who have a project.”

Toure didn’t appear to have any future at City at the start of the season when Guardiola froze him out, but he has since become an integral part of their top four challenge after earning a surprise recall in November.

The veteran midfielder is perhaps the only player currently available to Guardiola that provides this City side with control in the middle of the park, which is highlighted by the fact he averages more passes per league game than any other teammate this season (70.7).
