Borussia Dortmund have announced Marco Reus has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal running until 2023.
Reus’ previous deal was due to expire at the end of next season and there were some concerns whether he would pledge his future to the German outfit.
Tottenham emerged as interested suitors in the wake of those reports but Mauricio Pochettino’s side will now have to look elsewhere for a new forward.
The 28-year-old’s career has been savaged by injuries in recent years and he has been limited to just seven appearances in all competitions this season.
Nevertheless, Reus is still regarded as one of the most influential attackers in the Bundesliga and the fact he has been continuously linked with high profile moves away throughout his injury-hit years is testament to that.
Since making his first appearance of the season in February, Reus has scored three goals in seven matches and picked up the WhoScored Man of the Match on one occasion in that time.
