Manchester United midfielder signs new contract

Manchester United have announced Scott McTominay has put pen to paper on a new fou-year running until the summer of 2023.

McTominay had two-and-a-half years left to run on his previous deal but United have rewarded the Scotland international with improved terms.

“Manchester United has been my life since the age of five and playing for the club I’ve always supported is all I’ve ever wanted to do,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’m still young and I’m learning all the time from the manager, his coaching staff and from the world-class players in the squad. I can’t wait to continue my progress at this great club.

The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a loan move to Celtic earlier this month but that appears to be off the cards for now.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reluctant to lose McTominay now Marouane Fellaini is sidelined with a calf injury.

McTominay has made 22 league appearances for United since making his debut under Jose Mourinho in the 2016/17 campaign.

Since the start of last season, United have won 75% of the Premier League matches McTominay has featured in compared to just 56.1% when he hasn’t.
