Why Manchester United have ended their interest in Kane revealed

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has removed Harry Kane from Manchester United's list of summer transfer targets because of Marcus Rashford, claims The Sun.

Kane has put Europe's biggest clubs on red alert after suggesting he will only stay at Tottenham if they compete for major trophies.

United have been linked with the England captain in the past and Old Trafford seemed the natural destination for Kane should he leave his boyhood club.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy immediately slapped a £200m valuation to fend off interest from their Premier League rivals and United are no longer interested.

While such an eye-watering price may have put United off, Solskjaer has actually ended the club's pursuit due to his faith in Rashford.

Rashford was enjoying his best ever season in terms of goal return prior to injury at the start of the year and his reputation is growing on and off the pitch.

Solskjaer is concerned signing another world class striker will only block the likes of Anthony Martial and Rashford from realising their full potential at Old Trafford.

Why Manchester United have ended their interest in Kane revealed

The United head coach wants Rashford to be the star of the team with summer recruits in the form of Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish to help push the club on to major honours.

Both Rashford and Kane suffered long-term injuries at the start of January but it is the United striker with more league goals to his name (14 in 22 apps) than his England team-mate Kane (11 in 20 apps) this season.
