City on alert as Barcelona midfielder reveals Guardiola ambition

Manchester City have been put on red alert after Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets revealed it would be an ‘honour’ to work with Pep Guardiola again.

Guardiola will replace Manuel Pellegrini to become the next City head coach at the end of the season and the two-time Premier League champions have already been linked with a raft of players Guardiola has worked with past and present.

The Blues have been given a huge boost any interest they may have in Busquets, after the Spain international revealed Guardiola is the only person in football that could make him consider his Barcelona future.

“I’ve always said that there are only two people that can change my decision to be here. One is my wife, who right now is here and is a Barcelona fan, so I don’t think there is going to be a problem on a personal level,” Busquets told ESPN.

“On a sporting level the other person would be Guardiola. It’s clear that I owe Guardiola a lot and for me to work with him would be an honour.”

According to the Daily Mirror, Busquets has been promised a new contract with a significant wage hike, although that could now be a problem given the club are now experiencing with their wage bill.

Despite his obvious importance to the team, Barcelona have only lost three league games from the 67 matches he has missed since August 2009, which is a staggering win percentage of 82.1%.
