Everton are determined to sign a new striker in January and have made Sporting striker Bas Dost one of their main targets, reports ESPN.
Ronald Koeman has already lamented the club’s inability to replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer and that has showed by the fact Everton have only scored four goals in seven Premier League matches this season.
The Merseyside outfit failed in their attempts to sign Olivier Giroud and Diego Costa over the summer and are now pondering a move for Dost, who has been in immense form for Sporting since the start of last season.
Everton director of football Steve Walsh scouted Dost during Sporting’s defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League last month and the Toffees will continue to monitor his progress ahead of the January transfer window.
Since the start of last season, only Lionel Messi (48), Edinson Cavani (43) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (39) have scored more goals in Europe’s top six leagues than Dost (38).
