Bayern chief talks up interest in Europe's top goalscorer

 

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed the Gonzalo Higuain is a player the Bundesliga champions hugely admire.

 

Higuain, 28, has been in sensational form this season and his performances have been instrumental in firing Napoli to the top of Serie A this season.

 

Reports had emerged suggesting Bayern would make the Argentina international their number one transfer target if they fail to keep hold of Robert Lewandowski over the summer, which has only been amped up following comments made by Rummenigge.

 

“Higuain is a fantastic player who Bayern admire,” the Bayern chief is quoted as saying by AS.

The former Real Madrid striker has scored 53 league goals in 88 appearances since making the switch to Napoli in 2013 and he is currently on course to land the Golden Boot for Europe’s top five leagues, with his haul of 18 goals level with Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
