Manchester United interested in shock move for Manchester City star

Raheem Sterling has propped up on Manchester United's radar and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are monitoring his future at Manchester City, claim The Independent.

Solskjaer has been working hard with United's analytic department during lockdown to nail down a tier-structure for their summer transfer targets.

United remain intent on going all out for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho this summer but also have one eye on Manchester City star Sterling.

The Red Devils would be surprised if Sterling offered any encouragement to a controversial cross-city move but haven't ruled out a surprise play for his signature.

City's appeal against the club's two-year ban from European football will be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) at the start of next week.

Failure to overturn UEFA's ban will raise huge questions about the immediate future of CIty's star players, including Sterling.

Kevin De Bruyne has already admitted it would be hard to stick around at City if they are banned from the Champions League for the next two seasons.

Real Madrid have been regularly linked with Sterling in the last 12 months but it has now emerged United will seriously consider a move for the 25-year-old if City's ban is upheld.

Sterling has developed into one of the Premier League's best players since joining City from Liverpool for £50m in 2015.

The City No.7 has reached double figures for league goals in each of the past three campaigns and has netted 46 times in 91 games in that period.

However, Sterling has a remarkably poor record against United in his career with no goals in 20 appearances against the Red Devils.
