Jonny Evans holding out for Manchester City move

Jonny Evans still hopes to secure a summer move to Manchester City, reports The Daily Mirror.

The Northern Ireland international has been heavily linked with a move to City since the end of last season.

Pep Guardiola’s side refused to meet West Brom’s asking price in January before swooping for Athletic Club defender Aymeric Laporte.

However, Evans has a relegation release clause in his current West Brom deal and will be available for as little as £3m in the summer if the Baggies drop down to the Championship.

Despite the fact City signed Laporte, Evans is still hopeful of securing a summer move to the Etihad, as his preference is to remain in the north of England.

West Brom secured their first Premier League away win since August on Sunday after beating Manchester United 1-0.

Darren Moore’s side are still nine points adrift of safety with four games remaining and appear to have ran out of time to save their top-flight status.

Since August 2015, only four Premier League players have won possession in the defensive third more times than Evans (368).
