Alatanta head coach confirms Inter’s deal for Gagliardini

Roberto Gagliardini’s proposed move to Inter appears to be on the verge of completion after Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini hinted at life without the midfielder.

The 22-year-old has been very impressive for the Atalanta this season, who have surprised many with their excellent first half of the campaign.

Gagliardini’s performances have seemingly caught the eye of Inter, who are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal worth in excess of €25m (£21.3m) this month.

The deal had only been paper talk but Gasperini appeared to confirm the deal after cooling the effect his departure would have on the team in midfield.

“Will Gagliardini go? Gasperini questioned in an interview with L’Eco, via Football Italia. “What’s the problem? One of [Alberto] Grassi, [Giulio] Migliaccio or [Filippo] Melegoni will play.”

However, losing Gagliardini will still be a blow to Atalanta’s campaign. The Italy U21 international is their highest rated player from starts alone (7.47 rating) and with Atalanta in sixth and only six points adrift of second place Roma, they cannot afford to lose their best players.
