Atletico Madrid are preparing a £12m bid for Watford striker Odion Ighalo, according to the Daily Mail.
Ighalo, 26, has been one of the stars of the first half of the season in the Premier League and has taken no time in adjusting to the demands of top-flight English football.
The Nigeria international’s form in front of goal has been integral behind Watford’s rise up the table, with the Hornets only six points off the top four.
Atletico have watched the Watford striker “at least five times” this season, according to the Daily Mirror, and could make a move depending on whether they can shift Jackson Martinez in the January market.
Only Romelu Lukaku and Jamie Vardy (both 15) have scored more goals in the Premier League than Ighalo so far this season (14) and no player has had a greater contribution of their team’s goals than the Watford ace (58%). He has also scored in each of his last six league matches.
