Manchester City target wants to leave Juventus

Dani Alves has informed Juventus he wants to leave the Serie A champions this summer amid talk of a potential reunion with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, reports The Guardian.

City have been heavily linked with a £5m move for the experienced Brazilian as Guardiola looks to sign up to four full-backs to complete a summer overhaul of his squad ahead of next season.

Alves has only spent the last 12 months at Juventus after joining from Barcelona on a free transfer last summer and the 34-year-old emerged as a key player for Max Allegri’s side in the second half of last season.

However, the 34-year-old’s agent had a meeting with Juventus on Monday and made it clear Alves wants to leave this summer. The Brazil international is now waiting to be given the greenlight before he can discuss a potential move with City.

Alves was one of Guardiola’s first signings as Barcelona manager back in 2008 and the City manager wants to reunite with the full-back as the club’s spending spree looks set to continue.

The Juventus defender was particularly key in the club’s Champions League run to the final last season, where he played a direct hand in seven goals in 12 appearances for the Old Lady. In fact, Alves finished in the WhoScored Team of the Season in Europe’s premiere competition.
