Courtois still plans Chelsea contract talks

Thibaut Courtois has not decided he will leave Chelsea this summer and still plans to discuss a new deal after the 2018 World Cup, reports the London Evening Standard.

Reports have emerged in the last week claiming Chelsea have failed to agree a new deal with their No.1 goalkeeper and will likely have to cash in this summer.

Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Courtois for the last 12 months and the 26-year-old has even admitted his future is in La Liga.

Courtois’ children are growing up in Madrid and the Belgium international has previously alluded to the fact he would like to return to Spain be closer to them.

However, Courtois is reportedly bemused by suggestions a decision has already been made on his future and is adamant he will discuss a new deal with Chelsea when he returns from international duty.

Courtois is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world and hopes to lead Belgium to World Cup glory in Russia this summer. In fact, only David de Gea (32) has kept more clean sheets than Courtois (31) in the last two Premier League campaigns.
