Everton manager Marco Silva faces a dilemma in attack ahead of this weekend’s clash against West Ham with Theo Walcott set to miss out, claims The Daily Telegraph.
Walcott is struggling with a rib injury sustained before the international break and is facing a losing battle to prove his fitness in time to turn out for the Toffees this weekend.
Everton are already without star man Richarlison due to suspension and Walcott’s absence will further blunt Silva’s attack this weekend.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has deputised for Richarlison in Everton’s last two matches and Walcott’s injury could open up the door for 20-year-old Ademola Lookman to make his first appearance of the season.
Lookman failed to secure a move to RB Leipzig in the summer and has already endured a turbulent start to Silva’s time at Goodison Park.
Alternatively, summer signing Bernard could make his first start for Everton after being limited to just five minutes of playing time so far this season.
While Walcott looks set to miss out against West Ham, the former England international is desperate to play against former club Arsenal the weekend after.
Everton travel to the Emirates on September 23 and Walcott is eyeing that match as his return date for the Toffees.
Walcott has played a direct hand in three goals in four league matches this season, converting with both of his shots on target.
