Sunderland looking to bring Snodgrass to the Stadium of Light

Sunderland are thought to have entered the race to sign Robert Snodgrass from West Ham, according to the Newcastle Chronicle. 

The Scotland international joined the Hammers in January, yet struggled to make an impact with the Hammers, registering just two assists in 15 Premier League appearances this year. 

West Ham are holding out for £8m for Snodgrass, though Sunderland are hoping to negotiate that down as Simon Grayson aims to improve the squad following his appointment. 

The east London side brought the 29-year-old to the London Stadium as a replacement for Dimitri Payet at the turn of the year, but struggled to have the desired impact following his arrival from Hull City. 

The Black Cats have made just one signing this summer, securing the services of Brendan Galloway from Everton on loan for the season, with Grayson aiming to bolster the creative options at this disposal following Sebastian Larsson’s departure. 

Snodgrass impressed prior to his move to West Ham in January, scoring seven times and providing a further three assists, with his Championship experience a key reason why Grayson is eager to lure the creator to Sunderland.
