The reason why Liverpool are not in the running for Bundesliga hotshot Luka Jovic

The Liverpool Echo are reporting Rhian Brewster is the reason why Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp does not want to sign Frankfurt sensation Luka Jovic.

Jovic has emerged as the hottest young striker in Europe this season after enjoying a spectacular few months with German side Frankfurt.

The 20-year-old has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe since the start of the campaign but Liverpool are not in the running for his signature.

Klopp is instead putting his faith in a young forward already on Liverpool’s books and does not want to put any obstacles in his way to the first-team.

Brewster, 18, is yet to make a senior appearance for Liverpool and has been sidelined with injury since January.

However, Liverpool placed their faith in the England Under-18 international in the summer when Brewster put pen to paper on a new long-term deal.

Jovic, meanwhile, has been scoring goals for fun this season. Only Emiliano Sala, Kylian Mbappe (both 11) and Neymar (10) have scored more goals than Jovic (9) in Europe’s top five leagues.
