Manchester City interested in Monaco defender

Manchester City are weighing up a move for Monaco defender Benjamin Mendy at the end of the season, according to The Daily Mirror.

Pep Guardiola has made signing new full-backs a priority in the summer with Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Pablo Zabaleta all in the final six months of their existing deals.

City have already been linked with a move for several Monaco players and they have now reportedly turned their attentions to Mendy in a bid to solve their problem at left-back.

The 22-year-old only joined Monaco last summer on a five-year deal but Guardiola will have the chance to get a closer look when the two sides face off in the Champions League in midweek.

In the last two Ligue 1 campaigns only Ryad Boudebouz (76) has completed more crosses (excluding corners) than Mendy (65).
